DIY recipes for cats and cats

Ready-made cat foods are now easy to purchase at any pet store. They are convenient to use if the owner is at work all day, and sometimes even doesn’t have time to cook his own food, besides, dry croquettes can be left in the trough for the whole day, without fear that the food will go bad. However, many pet owners prefer to transfer their pets from industrially prepared feeds to a natural diet.

Sometimes the reason is the need, when ready-made feed is not recommended to the cat for health reasons. And often the owner or hostess transfers the pet to food prepared with their own hands, knowing that it is closer to the natural diet of cats than the one that is offered in canned form. In addition, cooking is a fascinating activity. It is necessary to study the needs of the cat's body, find and try to cook interesting cat dishes.

First of all, you should know what products and in what quantity should be included in the cat's menu, so that it is complete and balanced in terms of the substances necessary for its body. You should also learn how to cook homemade food for a cat: what can be added to dishes in raw form, and what should be subjected to heat treatment.

The composition of the diet for cats

A cat is a predatory feline mammal. Like all predators, it mainly eats meat. Meat products should make up up to 80% of the cat's daily diet, of which 10% can be in the form of offal. You can use any meat, in a limited amount only pork - it is harder to digest and contains a lot of fat.

The remaining 20% of the cat's diet should be vegetables, cereals, potatoes, legumes, greens, eggs (2-3 per week, not more). From feline vegetables, cabbage (Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower), carrots, spinach, celery, pumpkin, and squash can be given. What your cat prefers, then include in the menu. Onions and garlic should not be given to cats - these products are feline toxic. Homemade food should contain a sufficient amount of vitamins and minerals, so it is recommended to add vitamin-mineral pellets recommended by the veterinarian or tablets for cats to ready meals.

It can be difficult for a cat to immediately switch from canned food to a natural diet, therefore it is wiser to give her wet canned food to begin with, they are closer to home food in appearance and taste. If there are other animals in your house (for example, a dog), you will have to cook the cat food separately, since the composition of the diet is different for them: the cat needs a lot more protein.
